    NOTES: David NILES, Sr., emigrated from Shrewsbury, Rutland Co., VT, to Ohio between 1800 and 1802 when he was listed on an 1802 Youngstown, Trumbull Co., OH, census. The Niles moved to the South Ridge [Salem Township] about six before the formation of Ashtabula County, first officially residing in Trumbull and then Geauga County. David was present at and elected to an office during organizational meetings for both Salem [1804] and for Monroe Townships [1818]. He served several terms as a township trustee and as well as Justice of the Peace in 1819.
